・Thoroughly cook bivalves such as oysters.
Heating the center of oysters to 85°C for at least 1 minute eliminates infectivity.
・For food handlers and caregivers, thorough handwashing is effective.
Alcohol-based disinfectants alone are insufficient against norovirus; washing with soap and water is important to remove the virus.
・Disinfect cooking utensils with 0.02% sodium hypochlorite solution or heat at 85°C for over 1 minute.
・Norovirus is present in vomit and feces of infected persons.
When cleaning these, remove with paper towels, seal in plastic bags, and dispose of properly.
Disinfect contaminated areas broadly with 0.1% sodium hypochlorite solution.
Wear disposable gloves, masks, and aprons during cleanup to avoid infection, and wash hands thoroughly afterward.
